We got an email from the race director. Here’s the 411.
Hi George,
we’ll do the best we can to accommodate you again this year. However we’ve got some challenges this year!
Please get your word out to your group to again, as always, proceed directly to that same area that you’ve used in the past. A Parking Volunteer may be trying to wave you to a different area to park. Just give them a quick shout out that you’re with the Taconic Group and have a specific area designated for you (I let the Civil Air Patrol kids know that this may happen with your group).
Here’s a very important detail though!!!!! Much of the Park is (still) under water due to the Rains and it will without question eliminate many of our Parking areas that we’ve used in the past! PLEASE ENCOURAGE CAR POOLING FROM YOUR GROUP! Even if you combine cars somewhere in close proximity to the Park and consolidate down to a minimum # of cars for the “last mile” to the Park, that would be a huge help. Also, those of you that arrive (hopefully in full cars), get there early! At some point we will grab whatever space is available in the area that you’ve had to yourself in the past couple of years. Space for cars will be at a premium and as the later runners arrive, we’ll be looking high and low for spaces to squeeze cars in to! It’s very possible that if we don’t get cooperation on car pooling that we may have off-site parking with buses shuttling in the late arriving runners. We’d really like to have the Buses “at the ready”, but NOT have to use them at all! Again, if your group doesn’t get there early your space may be used up. When and if they successfully make their way back there to your area (late), they’ll be stuck in a mess with now where for them to Park at all!
Let me know if you have any questions. See you Sunday.
Let’s carpool! We’re good at that! We can talk about it at the meeting tonight, or post something on facebook.
